At Medlemo Ltd. (“Medlemo”, “we”, “our”, or “us”), we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use our website medlemo.com and the Medlemo QBank app for iPhone, iPad and Android (the “app”), including when you purchase access to our courses, mock exams, question bank, flashcards or study notes for the MCCQE.

Disclaimer: Medlemo is an independent educational platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Medical Council of Canada (MCC). The MCCQE is a registered examination of the MCC. Our courses and mock exams are solely for educational and practice purposes and do not replace the official MCCQE. Medlemo is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice for patient care.

1. Information We Collect
When you use Medlemo, we may collect:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, username, password, and profile details when you create an account, on our website or in the app.
  • Payment Information: Billing details processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card information.
  • Course and Exam Data: Activity related to your use of our courses or mock exams, such as attempts, scores, and progress.
  • Study Data: Your question bank answers, results and progress; your flashcard reviews; your answers to the practice questions and flashcards in the app; your notes, highlights, sticky notes and reading progress in our study notes; and study settings such as your exam date, text size and appearance.
  • AI Tutor Data: If you use Medlemo AI Tutor, the question on screen, your answer and the messages you type.
  • App and Notification Data: If you use the app and turn on notifications, a notification token for your device and your notification choices.
  • Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, and essential cookies.
  • Marketing Data: Email address and communication preferences if you subscribe to newsletters or promotions.

2. How We Use Your Information
We may use your information to:

  • Provide access to courses, mock exams, the question bank, flashcards, study notes, and platform features, on the website and in the app.
  • Keep your progress, notes and settings the same on the website and the app.
  • Write Medlemo AI Tutor replies when you ask the AI Tutor a question.
  • Send the app notifications you chose, such as study reminders, the question of the day, practice questions and flashcards, and updates. Medlemo news is sent only if you turn it on in the app’s Settings.
  • Protect our study materials: PDF notes show your name, email address and IP address as a watermark.
  • Process secure payments through Stripe.
  • Communicate with you about your account, purchases, or platform updates.
  • Improve our services, content, and user experience.
  • Send educational updates, marketing, or promotions only if you opt in.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations.

3. Cookies and Tracking

  • Essential cookies: Required for login, checkout, and site functionality.
  • Advertising measurement on our website: Our website uses the Meta Pixel to measure the results of our advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
  • The app: The app does not load advertising pixels or analytics tools and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information with:

  • Payment Processor: Stripe, to securely process transactions.
  • Hosting and IT Providers: To operate and maintain the platform, including bunny.net, which stores and delivers our videos and PDF notes.
  • AI Service Provider: OpenAI (United States), which writes Medlemo AI Tutor replies. It receives the question on screen, your answer and what you type. Your name and email address are not sent, only an anonymous code for your account. The AI Tutor asks for your permission before it is first used, and you can turn it off in the app’s Settings.
  • Notification Services: Apple Push Notification service (iPhone and iPad) and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) deliver the app’s notifications. They receive your device’s notification token and the notification text.
  • Advertising Services: Meta, through the Meta Pixel on our website, to measure our advertising.
  • Legal Authorities: If required by law or to protect our rights and security.

Some of these providers are located outside Canada, including in the United States, and your information may be processed there.

5. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide services and meet legal requirements:

  • Account data and study data are stored while your account is active and deleted when your account is deleted.
  • A device’s notification token is removed when you sign out of the app.
  • Payment transaction data is retained for financial and tax compliance.
  • Marketing data is retained until you unsubscribe.

6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
  • Request a copy of your personal data.
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications, app notifications, or the AI Tutor.
  • File a complaint with your local privacy authority.

Residents of Quebec have rights under Law 25.

Deleting your account: In the app, go to Settings, then Delete account. On our website, go to medlemo.com/?mq_delete_account=1 and sign in. After you enter your password to confirm, we delete your account and its study data right away: your question bank answers and progress, flashcard reviews, practice answers, and notes, highlights and reading progress. Your question bank answers remain only as anonymous counts in our question statistics, with no link to you. This cannot be undone. You can also ask us by email at info@medlemo.com. Payment records that we must keep for tax purposes are kept as the law requires. You can turn off notifications and the AI Tutor at any time in the app’s Settings.

7. Security
We use reasonable organizational and technical measures to protect your personal data. However, no system can guarantee 100% security.

8. Children’s Privacy
Medlemo is intended for adults preparing for medical licensing exams. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.

9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. Any updates will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
